Is love or a singing career the bigger gamble?
Amadeus Never Gives Me The Blues is a play written and performed by Amy Bouchard with songs from opera, Broadway, and the Great American Songbook.
Synopsis: Amy is an up-and-coming opera singer, torn between equal desires for career and family. She meets and falls in love with Luis just as her career is taking off, forcing her to make choices in situations she doesn’t know how to handle. Amy looks to her grandmother's singing career during WW2 for answers. Are you still a singer if you have no stage? Is it worth giving up a singing career to have a family? Amadeus Never Gives Me The Blues is a one-woman tour de force of singing and storytelling.
Amy Bouchard began writing Amadeus in the fall of 2020 when she found David Ford’s Solo Show class at The Marsh. She won a 2021 TITAN Award from Theatre Bay Area to support the development of her first full-length solo show under the mentorship of Mark Kenward. Amy has performed excerpts from Amadeus at The Marsh, Solo Sundays, and Tell It On Tuesday, and won “Best Up and Coming” at The Marsh International Solo Festival 2022.
